The Vereniging Associatie Jeugdzorg (Youth Care Association), ASAP Netherlands and NVZD (Netherlands Association of Hospital Directors) have organized sessions titled Future-Proof Collaboration Strategies.

The sessions present a practical framework for the concrete construction and determination of alliances. Participants will be asked to share their knowledge and experiences in the area of collaboration and management of collaboration relationships. The following questions are at the heart of the discussion:

  1. Strategic anchoring of “alliance thinking and doing” in organizations/institutions Legitimizing and eventually deciding to collaborate, depend on the    strategic goals of organizations/institutions. How is such a decision made?
  2. What structure/form is given to the collaboration?
  3. Which skills and competencies are required for organizations to make sure their (strategic) collaborations are successful?

The session on October 30 will focus on "Alliances for Innovation."

The “Alliances for Innovation” theme recognizes the value and power of successful collaboration in the innovation process.  Innovation processes in the business and public sector increasingly depend on alliances for the development of new products and services.  They offer strategic alternatives to in-house development, while allowing companies to share risk and cost.

A successful alliance provides a company access to new markets, new technologies, and new knowledge. It allows them the flexibility to handle change and hedge risks, but only if managed effectively.

The “Alliances for Innovation” workshop takes a broad view of the process of forming alliances. Some aspects of innovative alliances will be addressed: from finding innovative partners to creating a culture conducive to collaboration, and from determining the cultural fit with a partner to developing alliance governance structures.

In an interactive session, Philips and Schering-Plough alliance experts will teach participants how to use new tools and techniques for designing and implementing alliances.

Participants will learn how to:

  • Align Corporate Strategies in an Alliance to create value
  • Effectively monitor and manage Alliance Performance and "Return on Alliances"
  • Build an effective Alliance governance structure

The objective of the workshop is to enable participants to successfully design, form and manage innovative alliances. It will strengthen alliance skills and competencies.
