Alliance management career paths are very rarely linear.

Many of us began our careers in different fields, and over time found ourselves attracted to the unique problem solving opportunities that are presented when working at the interface of two or more organizations to get a service, therapy, or product to customers and patients. As we master many of the required skill sets – negotiation, influence, creative problem solving, effective communication – we increasingly look for new and interesting career challenges. For some this may be moving from Alliance Manager to Alliance Executive, for others this may be a move from Alliance Executive to a broader organizational leadership role.

The ASAP New England chapter invites you to join our panelists for an interactive discussion on taking that next step in your career.

Our panelists will offer perspectives from a variety of industries and organizational vantage points. We will ask them to reflect on:

  • Skills and capabilities funders and the c-suite are looking for in alliance executives
  • Transitioning from alliance executive to other organizational leadership roles

  • Transferrable skills from alliance management, and helpful additional skillsets for becoming an organizational leader

  • Approaches to assessing career growth opportunities at an organization

Panelists
Lou Shipley | Former CEO, board member, investor, lecturer | HBS and MIT
Christine Carberry, CSAP | Board Member | UNH Entrepreneurship Center
Andrew Hirsch | Chief Financial Officer and Head of Corporate Development | Agios Pharmaceuticals

Moderator
Mai-Tal Kennedy | Engagement Leader | Vantage Partners

The ASAP New England chapter thanks Vertex Pharmaceuticals for hosting this event.
