Position Description:

Under the broad direction of the Director, Global Alliance Management, this position is responsible for the overall enhanced relationship and contractual management to maximize the success, value, and efficiency of key Neuroscience R&D partnered programs to deliver results consistent with strategic goals. Responsibilities include engaging internal and partner stakeholders at all levels and leading the strategic discussions and decision-making processes to effectively manage external collaborations and partnerships. Operationalizing and coordinating cross-functional activities to support the programs.


• Plan and manage the operational aspects of the alliance, including leading the Alliance launch. Ensure alliance governance is established and operationalized, alliance effectiveness, working process to facilitate timely joint decision-making, managing escalation, appropriate communications, coordination of activities, and solving business problems. Manage the ongoing governance of existing alliances

• Ensure all team members and joint committees have a shared common understanding of alliance goals, deliverables, timelines, and go/no go criteria, expectations, operating principles, and performance metrics consistent with agreement intent

• Proactively identify risks,synthesize discussions, anticipate contingencies, and actively foster momentum

• Works with project teams, stakeholders, and alliance partners to evaluate and resolve any business/contractual issues, conflicts, and disputes, in an equitable and timely manner. Manage escalation; understand when escalation to leadership committees for timely resolution is necessary

• Proactively tracks, monitors and communicates contract milestones, obligations, and any financial payments to project team leaders and management. Closely interface with Legal and business development groups to identify and lead process for revising contractual agreements as necessary

• Identify, develop and maintain relationships with key stakeholders across a broad sphere of influence, both internally and externally, to ensure alignment and to achieve Alliance strategic intent

Required Experience:

• Minimum 6 years of applicable drug development experience, global experience preferred

• Minimum 2 years of direct alliance management experience within the pharmaceutical or biotech industry is preferred

• Broad understanding of global pharmaceutical and biotech industries with a solid understanding of drug discovery and development processes

• Strong communication skills, both oral and written; demonstrated ability to speak up appropriately and raise issues to teams and management as necessary

• Strong collaboration and interpersonal skills; ability to establish good working relationships with team members as well as management

• Demonstrated leadership, influence skills, creativity, problem solving and ability to manage complexity in addressing issues


• BS/BA required; advanced degree (MBA, PharmD, PhD) preferred

• Professional certification in alliance management, project management, corporate training, or another relevant discipline preferred

• Minimum 2 years experience of direct alliance management role, engagement role or equivalent relationship management role within the pharmaceutical or biotech industry is preferred

• Experience in understanding and interpretation of contractual language
