Job Title: Director, Alliance Management

Position Description:

The Director, Alliance Management will lead the alliance management efforts (meeting contractual obligations, facilitating governance, and maintaining the exchange of information) for the Cell and Gene Therapy teams and serve as the primary point of contact for partners. The role will also be responsible for coordinating with external communications and finance to support external communications regarding alliances or partnered programs.


Lead new alliance launches and manage existing alliances

Facilitate effective functioning of the alliance governance structure

Develop and maintain a comprehensive knowledge of our alliance contracts and, ensure we are adhering to our obligations and that the internal team is aware of contractual obligations and timelines, monitor performance against terms and conditions

Ensure that the partner is adhering to their obligations, including generation of scientific data, resourcing, finances, timelines, reports and information-sharing, disclosures, and decision-making

Develop and maintain effective working relationships and communication links with partners and internal stakeholders

While keeping an eye on the contractual commitments and boundaries, maintain a broader perspective, considering the principles, spirit, and long-term goals of the alliance while always driving towards those objectives

Coordinate external communication plans and execution to ensure critical information is shared in a timely manner; serve as first line for conflict resolution and mediation

Foster development of a collaborative organizational culture

Strive to anticipate and resolve issues, where possible, and appropriately escalate those that require governance attention and resolution

Evaluate collaboration health through formal or informal feedback, surveys, or other metrics

Partner with BD and Legal in order to negotiate amendments and ancillary agreements

Required Experience:

Bachelor’s degree and 10+ years of relevant industry experience, including direct experience managing alliances and contracts, or equivalent combination of education and experience

Experience in Biotech/Pharma industries Excellent interpersonal, networking, and communications skills

Proven success facilitating decision-making among senior management

High sensitivity to, experience working with, and ability to manage, cross-cultural differences (personally, organizationally, culturally)

Strong ability to relate effectively across corporate hierarchy and functional areas

Ability to coordinate, interact with, and build alignment among multiple parties / functions / groups

Ability to handle sensitive and confidential conversations


MBA, Biologics product development experience
